Why Does Prayer Feel So Awkward

How to make prayer natural, personal and powerful.

Your Host: Marcy Demelo

Entrepreneur • Storyteller • Woman of Faith.

I help women recognize God’s promptings in everyday life, so they can sense when God is leading them and confidently take their next step.

God’s voice doesn’t look or feel the same for everyone. As we grow in our relationship with Him, we can learn to recognize the ways He may already be getting our attention, answering, guiding and prompting us.

This free webinar series continues in October, November & December. Read more >

Prayer is meant to be natural and personal.

Through personal stories and real-life examples, I’ll share how I’ve learned to recognize God’s voice – and what can happen when we choose to listen and respond.

This isn’t about expecting God to speak to you the way He speaks to me. It’s an invitation to become curious about the ways He may already be speaking to you.

Prayer doesn't have to sound polished, spiritual or perfect.

God already knows what we're thinking.

He knows what’s in our hearts. He knows the questions we don’t want to ask, the things we’re angry about, the doubts we have and even the thoughts we’d probably rather not admit.

So why do we sometimes feel as though we need to clean ourselves up before we talk to Him?

This webinar is about getting real about prayer and what an honest, personal relationship with God can actually look like.

I’ll share some very personal and vulnerable testimonies from my own life – prayers I’ve prayed that may surprise people, how God responded, and some of the extraordinary and even miraculous things that happened because I was willing to be honest, listen and act on what I believed He was asking me to do.

One of the most important things I ever heard God say to me was:

“Marcy, how about an honest confession?”

That changed the way I prayed.

It reminded me that God already knew what I was really thinking anyway. I didn’t need to tell Him what I thought I should be thinking. I could tell Him the truth.

He can handle our truth.

He can handle our anger. Our disappointment. Our questions. Our confusion. Our doubts. Our fears.

And sometimes that honest conversation is where a much deeper relationship with Him begins.

God speaks to each of us uniquely

Yet so often we find ourselves wondering: What am I supposed to say? Am I doing this right? Is God really listening? And how do I know when He’s speaking?

In this October webinar, we’ll explore prayer without the pressure to perform or find the “right” words. We’ll talk about honest conversations with God, learning to listen, navigating silence and unanswered prayer, and making prayer a natural part of everyday life.

Less performance. More relationship. A more real and natural conversation with God.

During the webinar, we'll explore:

What if the prayer you're afraid to pray is actually the conversation God is waiting to have with you?

Hi, I'm Marcy...

“My role isn’t to tell women what God’s purpose is for their lives. It’s to help them recognize how He reveals it.”

here's the short story.

Personal Stories & Testimonies

This won’t just be a webinar about prayer in theory. I’ll share real prayers, honest questions and personal stories from my own journey with God – including prayers that may not sound like what we imagine a “good Christian prayer” should be.

I’ll share moments when God’s responses surprised me, challenged me, made me laugh, redirected me or asked me to do something I really didn’t want to do.

And I’ll share some of the extraordinary things that happened when I chose to listen, trust and act.

A Practical Resource to Take With You

You’ll also receive a practical prayer guide to continue using long after the webinar.

Inside, you’ll find simple prayers and prompts for real-life moments – when you’re worried, grateful, angry, confused, afraid, waiting, struggling to forgive, looking for direction, praying for someone you love, or simply don’t know what to say.

These aren’t “the right words” you have to follow. They’re simply a place to begin – something to help you start the conversation with God when the words don’t come easily, and then make the prayer your own.

This is just the beginning!

This webinar is the second in a series of four free webinars, with two more sessions coming in November and December.
